Our founder is a lifelong cuddle-puddle enthusiast and, by preference, always the person on the bottom. The problem was familiar to anyone who's been there: the pile is warm and wonderful, but a few bodies deep the air gets stuffy and you have to tap out long before you want to.
The first prototype was exactly what you'd guess — a length of pipe from the hardware store, cut to reach the surface. It worked so well, and drew so many "where do I get one" questions at the next few puddles, that it became a product.
A raw pipe does the job, but it isn't a product. We dialed in the bore diameter for effortless breathing, chose a wall thickness that won't collapse under a heavy pile, deburred and chamfered the ends so they're kind to lips and skin, specified a food-grade material, and added the heat-formed Deluxe bend for people who lie face-down. The result is something built for the job rather than borrowed from the plumbing aisle.
